It's Been Way More Than a Month!

I sat down today to put something new on the blog to see how long it has been since I last posted!  Whoa!  I had put a lot of emphasis on actually living life this summer, and to be honest, I am so busy living it, I have not been here very often! Not for way over a month it appears!!! I have lots to share, in all sorts of different areas!  However, for the moment I will pull a few things at random, and hopefully everyone will enjoy!

This year my sunflowers are all over 7ft tall! They have kept a great bee population around to keep everything pollenated, and productive!

Sad state of affairs, but this is all of the knitting that I have done this summer!  This owl was for Ky's birthday, and it blended in on the shelf so well, I forgot it was there, and she received it a couple of days late!

Blueberry season is here!  Hot, humid, hazy, and lots of berries this year!  This picture is of a random field, and is looking pretty good!  I did see some fields that were blue carpets, but I found myself without a camera, and a lot of farm equipment to navigate.

Went to the Gentlemen of the Road Concert this year.  Mumford and Sons, and seven of their favorite bands. Heard music from 2pm till nearly 10pm!  Awesome day!  It was held in Portland, ME, on the Eastern Prom overlooking the harbor!

Kylie enjoying her grandmother's birthday clams!  She ate a pound by herself!

Had fresh peas from the garden all July long!  This was pretty exciting as most people's peas rotted in the ground this spring, due to it being extra wet, and had to replant.  Second plantings had a difficult time in the heat!  So, we thankful for this blessing!

Ky cooked dinner for me and herself, all by herself for the first time!

Little birthday present for me!  It is still waiting for me to pick it up, and create!  I am waiting until it is a bit cooler!  Don't need sweat mixed in with the lovely smell of wool!

My sister loves sushi, so Ky tried sushi!  She loved it! :)  Thanks for the exposure to new things Auntie!

Bunnies have become big and fluffy, and even had their first hair cuts!!! I am not yet a "good hair cutter," so I am saving them from embarrassment by not showing the after pics! I promise to work on my technique!

Yup, I am a rooster! Started crowing last week!  This picture is from about 3 weeks ago, and the girls and boy are bigger yet! Going to go have to snap some new pictures! He still needs a name!

Well, it seems that 12 chicken were not enough!  I got three more!  These are Barred Rocks, they are the chickens that I wanted in the first place, and could not get. I found them at the local feed store when going in for rabbit food!  They are bigger now too, and my older girls accepted them into the flock with ease! Need names too!

Much fun, much action, family and friends = serious napping!

That's what I have for today!
Love and Blessings everyone!

As She Grows...

As the glasses were slipped on my daughter's face for the last fitting before leaving the doctor's office, she aged right before my eyes.  My breath caught, my mouth went into a smile, and my heart swelled.  There was a tear or two that threatened to break its tension over my eyelid, but did not. How is it that I am always taken aback when I realize that she has grown oh, so much more than when I noticed it last?  Here is my baby taking her next step into becoming a young adult.

I Am Still Here! Part 3

Easter was very festive, and egg hunt oriented this year!

The second that Ky awoke it was, "let the games begin!"

Such a smart Easter Bunny to give a awesome re-useable shopping bag for a basket! :)  Also gave her Legos for girls, bubbles, and that much needed chocolate bunny!

Easter Egg Hunts happened inside,

and out at home!

After eggs were opened, and a little treat before breakfast, and a clothing change, it was off to Grammie and Pops' house! There Ky was joined by her aunt and cousins.

There, the Easter Bunny's helper Auntie Dawn had cupcakes to precede lunch, and another Easter Egg Hunt ensued as well! Yes, even the boys who thought they were too old to participate were inspired to take part!

Because here the Easter Bunny's helper hid a little bit of another type of green, not grass for the basket, but a little lining for a wallet perhaps!

The best part of the day for me was family, and warm soup!  The simple things! Ky's fav, finding the five dollar bill in the "special egg!"

I Am Really Still Here! Part 1

Oh, My! I have have not been here in a month of sundays! Things have been happening, and I have been doing a lot living, and no so much on reflecting and sharing.

Ky started Pee-Wee Basket Ball this year!  I am so glad that whatever is in my genetic make up that makes sure I miss ever basket was not passed on.  Ky practiced hard, ran so much she noticed that it was getting easier, and can sink most baskets once "in the groove!"

Here is Ky making her first foul shots! She went one for two!  Momma was making a scene in the bleachers!  Could not help myself, I was soooo excited!

Love #25! She's quick, and followed that orange ball everywhere it went!

The girls won all of their games, and came away with an undefeated season! They also won all of their games in the playoffs, and also won a trophy for that as well!

Do to Ky's enthusiasm over this sport, she also received a basketball hoop at home, and was out there playing everyday before the bus came, and after school until I made her come in to eat dinner! I have never seen her so excited about a sport before!  All that hard work really paid off!

Till next season...

February Vacation

We have been busy, busy, busy this vacation! (Now, I think a break will be in order!)

Kylie and I have been all over visiting, learning, and doing new things.

First weekend of the vacation, off to Grandma's house, with a pit stop in the middle.  We went and met a lady named Beth about getting angora bunnies!  Beth gave us an hour of her time to tell us about the bunnies needs, how to care for them, and how to groom, harvest their wool!  Sorry, no pictures yet...none of the bunnies are ours yet.  However, you know when we do get them, there will be plenty!  Two of the females were breed this year, and in two weeks (one now) we will know if it was successful or not.  If not there is one possible buck that she will sell to us.  We will keep you posted!

Now, to Grandma's!  We went down for night, and to pick-up a spinning wheel that was Grandma found for Momma (how else would the bunny's wool get made into yarn!?)

Momma asked Grandma to look into a spinning wheel, and the next day, found.  Day after that, purchased!
Grandma, made dinner to the delight of the Momma!  Loved the reprieve from that chore, even if it was only that one night!

The next two days were spent cleaning someone's room, and that is all I am going to say!

Next adventure, was a day at Grammie's! Kylie and Grammie sewed, and made quilt blocks all day!

Momma did some lace knitting, but ripped back more than she moved forward with the project!  Wonderful tarts and tea made it a less painful process!

Kylie also got herself on snazzy, little haircut! Everyone noted on how much older it makes her look, and Momma cried for a minute (okay, so maybe it was more like 15, in a ball, on the floor, but I am good now!  Really I am!!)

This last weekend has been cold with every type of precipitation there is!! So, a little hibernating has been in order!  She is going to need her rest, for next week it is back to school, and the start of pee-wee basketball!!!

The Curious Mind of Kylie L.

Little mad scientist at work! Looking at our well water, wondering why things are moving in it, and journaling her findings! Totally her own project too!

Coolin' Off!!!

Finally a day with a breeze! Blessed are we! The dogs finally had energy to play, and Kylie bobbed up and down for about two hours! :) I finally caught up on a little reading, and created these little posts.
I hope the day found you all well, and as contented as we were!!!
Love and blessings to all!!!

Kylie is drawn' on the windows!

Kylie has had window markers in her possession for a while now, and this was her first try...Lois the Ladybug! I wonder if it is teasing to see the out-of-doors, and not be able to get to it? I am sure there will more additions to this one little ladybug soon! (Also, I am starting to wonder how well that stuff comes off?)

Picking Strawberries Was a Bust!!!

The story must be told one last time...
Parked on the lawn at the farm (yes we were supposed to.) I parked on the end next to a culvert, filled with wild flowers and long grass. It did not look that deep! I got out and it appeared to go down a couple of inches, no biggie! There were a few strawberries in a weed field. So, after two quarts, and needing to drop Kylie off at camp we called it quits. Kylie ran to the car to get my wallet, and fell into a two-to-three foot culvert!!! She caught herself with her left hand, and was rewarded with a fractured wrist! Asked Kylie what we should do next year, she said grow our own berries!
